Jaisalmer is one of the most popular and exclusive cities in Rajasthan. It was founded by Rawal Jaisal in the year 1156. The city, on its west has Pakistan, Bikaner in south and the eastern part bordered by Jodhpur. The climate is dry and hot, the typical of desert character.

Most of these beautiful havelis are built out of yellow sandstone, giving Jaisalmer, the name 'Golden City'. The camel safaris are an irresistible charm in exploring the vibrancy, life and colors of the Thar desert and its remarkable sand dunes. It also offers an exciting sight of the city as it turns golden brown during the sunset. These camel safaris also offer the exquisite visit to Sam, the famous tourist attraction that has a remarkable stretch of sweeping sand dunes.

The perfect time to visit the golden city is between October and Februrary. It is during this time that the Desert Festival is held every year and the city rejoices to the melodious rhythms. Colorful folk dances, vibrant craft bazaars, exciting cultural programes and contests, camel races, sound and light spectacle. The most interesting places to visit are: Jaisalmer Fort, Jain Temple, Tazia Tower, Salim-Singh-Ki-Haveli, Patwon-ki-Haveli, Gadsisar Sagar Tank, Bara Bagh, Jaisalmer Culture Center and the Desert National Park.
