Kashmir, Switzerland of the East
Kashmir, the Paradise in India is crown on the map of India. The geographically Kashmir is divided into three land masses: the foothill plains of Jammu, the Kashmir Valley and the mountains of Ladakh. The Kashmir valley is famous for its natural beauty and has often been referred to as the 'Switzerland of the East'. Valley is the heart of the area . Kashmir valley is the fertile Vale of Kashmir (known as The Valley), and it lies between the Himalayas and the Pir Panjal mountain range. Here the climate is mild and the soil well watered.

Much of the farmland is under intense cultivation, producing corn, wheat, rice and saffron amongst other crops. Fruit and nuts are also produced in quantities including pears, apples and walnuts.

Places to visit
The Shankaracharya Temple provides excellent view of the valley of Kashmir. Other places of tourist attractions are - the Mughal Gardens of Shalimar with beautiful flowers, plants, fountains and the mosque of Hazrathal, Pahalgam, which is a pleasant little, single street town full of streams and Gulmarg also has great scenic beauty to offer.
