The Lakshadweep Island Group is also called as the Laccadives. The group of
islands are situated at about 400 kilometers from Kerala, in India. Out of
Lakshadweep's 36 Arabian sea coral islands only ten islands are inhabited
and just two Bangaram and Kadmat are open for the tourists visit.
Kadmat Island is one destination that is enveloped by a lagoon and stretches
across its western shores and sweeps over the northern tip to the east. This
very natural formation offers you the opportunity to dive in deep warm
waters. The island is also a popular location for several other water sports
like Kayaking, Snorkeling apart from Scuba diving.
Scuba Diving

people from all over the world. India is the proud owner of many scuba
diving destinations. Scuba is an acronym used for Self Contained Underwater
Breathing Apparatus. The apparatus was invented by a marine explorer Jacques
Cousteau and Emile Gagnan.Scuba Diving in Lakshadweep is an amazing
experience. The crystal clear water, the clean sand on the sea bed, the
colorful, varied shapes of coral formations and vibrant tropical fish, make
a journey underwater a magical one.
Popular Dive Locations
Scuba Diving is well practised in the teardrop shaped island of Bangaram.
The island looks extremely romantic with its evergreen coconut palms and
creamy sand of the beaches. These all add to the beauty of scuba diving
sites. India's only licensed Diving School is located here. Popular dive
locations of Bangaram are:
Manta Point and the wreck The
Princess Royal. Manta rays, eagle rays, moray eels and green and hawkbill
turtles are common. Manta Rays are mostly seen from Oct-Dec when they come
to feed at Manta Point. One can also catch with the pod of ten to twenty
Asian dolphins. You can witness the best of coral formations at all the
dives at Bangaram. The reefs that surround Bangaram are as close to perfect
as you can get. The coral provided plenty of hiding spots for the Leopard
Moray Eels.
You can also dive the wreck of the Princess Royal which lays in 35 m of
clear water after being sunk in the battle by the French and British. The
environment of the island is refreshingly tranquil very much far from the
hustle and bustle from the city.
Best Season For Scuba Diving
The time between the months of May and November is the best time to enjoy
the activity of Scuba Diving.
