The Himalayan state of Himachal
Pradesh is blessed with some of the magnificent landscapes. The
beautiful snow peaks, deep gorges, lush green forests, misty woods,
enigmatic lakes and icy rivers, this state is truly a tourists' paradise
in every sense. For tourists, this state is an excellent place for
mountaineering, trekking, fishing, river rafting, skiing, para gliding
etc. It is a great place to forget all your problems and get
rejuvenated. There are many spiritual centres all over the state.
Various ashrams spread across the state are best places for spiritual
and mental peace. The state is quite rich in medicinal plants too.
Himachal is the largest fruit producer of country and is truly called
fruit bowl of India. Kotagarh which is located 82 km away from Shimla is
the place where apple revolution took place. Every year several lakh
tonnes of apple are exported to different parts of the world from here.
Other fruits like Cherry, Walnut, Chestnut, Apricot etc are also grown
in large scale. Himachal is one of the best places in India to try out
adventure sports. Places like Kullu and Manali offer excellent
facilities for trekking and mountaineering activities. In Kangra valley,
tourists can try out para gliding and hang gliding.
The alluring terrains of state is covered with snow during winter. It
forms the magical backdrop of many hill stations of state like Shimla,
Kullu, Manali, Dharamshala etc. These snow covered slopes become an
important destination for skiing activities during winter.
