A musical extravaganza
If music is something you live of, this carnival is the thing you look
for. Music - Rock Pop, Salsa, and the Desi tunes, all make up to a big bash
and if the occasion is special, its worth following the beats. The parties
organized here are vivacious, bullish, and rocky and you'll automatically
start dancing if you're around. What's more, you'll see only one world, and
people from every nook and corner here. That world is known as the Goa
Carnival. Best occasion to make friends.
Though the festival started with a deep religious root, it has become
something else, something like a showcase of the local art and culture.
Though most of the folk staying in Goa are Christians and Christianity plays
a major role for the sake of the spirit of the festival the folk willfully
don't bring religion in the ambience of the carnival. And that makes the
festival enjoyable for everybody. Even the children who be there groove in
to the music and make merry like a full grown freak. why? It's human nature,
that creates the vibrations of music and it's the same nature that makes you
dance. It does not matter whether you are into music or not, if you are
having a human soul and the music is good, you will feel it in your
subconscious. Goa, is just special for that, to shake your inner self with
heady music and rocky stuffs around.
The festival is special for, well, everything. There are colorful dresses,
freaky fashion, go wild attitudes, processions and what not? The carnival is
the greatest pilgrimage for the seekers of Nirvana, especially from Music.
Besides, the carnival can be a good platform too, to show your inner
talents. Never thought about that? Well, go and try. There are people from
many countries and that's a big way to showcase your valuable talents.

The carnival is all Portuguese, even the word carnival comes from the
Portuguese carnaval. It all began during the reign of king Momo, who started
the festival to celebrate the lent season (a Christian season of fasting).
It starts with a big bang on Sabado Gardo (Saturday) and ends up with Shrove
Tuesday (fat Tuesday). The three days are the days of big rush for everybody
on the beach and it is really going to be the best days of your life.
The festival usually falls in the month of February, in 2006 it's falling
on 26th -28th February. And if you are there make sure, you take part in one
or the other contest. Even if you don't win you will feel like a lifetime
winner. And the better part is that it will stay with you for the better
part of your life.
Apart from the scenic beaches, the live culture and the music to groove the
Goa festival is also special for the message it conveys. That's of humanity
and that too through the simple ways like music and dance. Feel it in your
soul, Goa is calling you.
